DL NetTools: Enterprise Network Diagnostics with 62 Professional Tools

The app processes everything locally on your device, requires no account for core functionality, and produces professional reports that can be shared with clients or archived for compliance documentation.

The Device Scanner performs comprehensive network discovery, identifying every device on the local network with IP address, MAC address, hostname, and device type. The Network Map takes this further by building an interactive topology visualization showing how devices are connected, their relationships, and real-time status. This visual map is exportable and invaluable for documentation.

The Port Scanner supports multi-threaded TCP and UDP scanning across all 65,535 ports with service fingerprinting. It identifies open ports, running services, and their versions — essential data for security assessment. The MAC Lookup tool resolves MAC addresses to manufacturer names, helping identify unknown devices. Additional tools include ARP Table inspection, Wake on LAN for remotely powering devices, mDNS Browser for discovering network services, and UPnP Explorer for finding UPnP-enabled devices.

The Security Scanner checks for common vulnerabilities across network devices. The Rogue Device Detector identifies unauthorized devices on the network by comparing discovered devices against a known inventory. The Port Auditor evaluates open ports against security best practices, flagging unnecessary exposed services. The Compliance Checker assesses network configurations against PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and NIST frameworks.

The SSL/TLS Analyzer deserves special attention. It inspects server certificates, analyzes cipher suite configurations, and checks for known vulnerabilities including Heartbleed, POODLE, and BEAST. The Report Builder generates formatted diagnostic reports combining scan results, network maps, and security findings into cohesive documents. The Network Documenter creates network infrastructure documentation with device inventories, port maps, and configuration details. The Asset Inventory maintains a running database of discovered network assets across multiple scan sessions.

The Compliance Report generates formal assessment documents aligned with PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or NIST standards — the kind of deliverable that MSP clients expect and auditors require. The Executive Dashboard provides a high-level view with network health KPIs, uptime tracking, device counts, and security scoring, designed for presentation to stakeholders who need the summary without the technical detail.

All reports can be exported as PDF, Excel, or CSV, making them immediately shareable and compatible with existing documentation workflows.

DL NetTools is built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, following MVVM architecture. Networking uses OkHttp, Retrofit, and Ktor for HTTP operations, with SNMP4j for enterprise monitoring and Apache POI for Excel export. The app targets SDK 36 with minimum SDK 26.

The local-first architecture means all scanning, analysis, and reporting happens on your device. No network data, IP addresses, or device inventories are transmitted anywhere. An optional Supabase integration enables team collaboration features — syncing scan results across devices for multi-technician environments — but this is entirely opt-in and not required for any core functionality.

Credential storage uses EncryptedSharedPreferences. Permission requests are contextual — the app only asks for permissions when you use a specific tool that requires them, and explains why each permission is needed. No account creation is required for any diagnostic tool.

DL NetTools is currently in active development, with all 62 tools being built and tested against real-world network environments.
