DL NetTools: Enterprise Network Diagnostics with 62 Professional Tools
WiFi analysis, port scanning, network discovery, SNMP monitoring, security auditing, and compliance reporting — all from your Android device.
Enterprise Networking in Your Pocket
Network professionals have traditionally relied on laptops loaded with specialized software to perform site surveys, security audits, and infrastructure assessments. The tools are powerful but cumbersome — setting up a laptop, launching multiple applications, and navigating between them adds friction to every field engagement. DL NetTools was designed to consolidate that entire toolkit into a single Android application with 62 professional-grade tools.
From WiFi analysis and dead zone mapping to port scanning, SNMP monitoring, SSL/TLS inspection, and compliance reporting, DL NetTools covers the full spectrum of network diagnostics that managed service providers (MSPs), IT security teams, and field technicians perform daily. The app processes everything locally on your device, requires no account for core functionality, and produces professional reports that can be shared with clients or archived for compliance documentation.
DL NetTools is currently in development and will be available on Google Play soon. This article provides a comprehensive preview of what's coming — and why we believe it will change how network professionals work in the field.
WiFi Analysis: Beyond Signal Bars
The WiFi analysis suite in DL NetTools goes far beyond the basic signal strength indicators most people are familiar with. Seven dedicated tools provide a comprehensive view of the wireless environment.
WiFi Dead Zone Mapping
Walk-survey coverage heatmap generation with AP placement optimization recommendations.
Channel Analyzer
2.4GHz and 5GHz channel utilization visualization with optimal channel recommendations.
Security Auditor
Wireless security assessment identifying weak encryption, open networks, and vulnerable configurations.
Signal and Channel Analysis
The WiFi Signal Meter provides real-time signal strength readings in dBm — the actual measurement unit professionals use, not the simplified bar indicator. The Channel Analyzer shows channel utilization across both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, identifying congested channels and recommending optimal channel assignments. The WiFi Scanner discovers all access points within range, displaying SSID, BSSID, security protocol, channel, and signal strength for each.
Dead Zone Mapping and Roaming
The WiFi Dead Zone Finder is one of DL NetTools' standout features. As you walk through a building with the app active, it performs a continuous walk survey, mapping signal strength to your physical location. The result is a coverage heatmap showing exactly where signal is strong, where it's weak, and where it drops entirely. This data drives AP placement optimization — showing you exactly where additional access points are needed and where existing ones can be repositioned for better coverage.
The Roaming Analyzer monitors how your device transitions between access points, identifying sticky client issues, slow roaming, and handoff failures that cause momentary disconnections as you move through a multi-AP environment.
Network Discovery and Scanning
Understanding what's on your network is the foundation of network management and security. DL NetTools provides eight discovery and scanning tools that map your network topology in detail.
The Device Scanner performs comprehensive network discovery, identifying every device on the local network with IP address, MAC address, hostname, and device type. The Network Map takes this further by building an interactive topology visualization showing how devices are connected, their relationships, and real-time status. This visual map is exportable and invaluable for documentation.
The Port Scanner supports multi-threaded TCP and UDP scanning across all 65,535 ports with service fingerprinting. It identifies open ports, running services, and their versions — essential data for security assessment. The MAC Lookup tool resolves MAC addresses to manufacturer names, helping identify unknown devices. Additional tools include ARP Table inspection, Wake on LAN for remotely powering devices, mDNS Browser for discovering network services, and UPnP Explorer for finding UPnP-enabled devices.
The interactive network topology map auto-discovers every device on your network and visualizes their connections in real time — documentation that updates itself.
Security Auditing and Compliance
Network security assessment is increasingly critical, and DL NetTools provides the tools to perform thorough audits from a mobile device.
The Security Scanner checks for common vulnerabilities across network devices. The Rogue Device Detector identifies unauthorized devices on the network by comparing discovered devices against a known inventory. The Port Auditor evaluates open ports against security best practices, flagging unnecessary exposed services. The Compliance Checker assesses network configurations against PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and NIST frameworks.
The SSL/TLS Analyzer deserves special attention. It inspects server certificates, analyzes cipher suite configurations, and checks for known vulnerabilities including Heartbleed, POODLE, and BEAST. For organizations that need to verify their web-facing services meet current security standards, this tool provides immediate, actionable results without requiring a laptop or desktop scanner.
SSL/TLS Analyzer
Certificate inspection, cipher analysis, and vulnerability checking for Heartbleed, POODLE, and BEAST.
Compliance Reporting
Automated assessment against PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and NIST frameworks with exportable reports.
SNMP v3 Browser
Enterprise device monitoring with MIB tree walking, OID querying, and interface statistics.
Infrastructure Tools
The infrastructure toolkit includes nine specialized tools for network engineers: Switch Port Mapper for tracing physical connections, VLAN Analyzer for virtual network inspection, Subnet Calculator for IP addressing, IP Manager for address tracking, SNMP Browser for enterprise device monitoring (supporting SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with MIB tree walking), NTP Tester for time synchronization verification, Route Table for routing path inspection, and DHCP Analyzer for lease and scope analysis.
Professional Reporting and Documentation
For MSP providers and IT consultants, documentation is as important as the diagnostics themselves. DL NetTools includes a comprehensive reporting suite with five tools designed for professional output.
The Report Builder generates formatted diagnostic reports combining scan results, network maps, and security findings into cohesive documents. The Network Documenter creates network infrastructure documentation with device inventories, port maps, and configuration details. The Asset Inventory maintains a running database of discovered network assets across multiple scan sessions.
The Compliance Report generates formal assessment documents aligned with PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or NIST standards — the kind of deliverable that MSP clients expect and auditors require. The Executive Dashboard provides a high-level view with network health KPIs, uptime tracking, device counts, and security scoring, designed for presentation to stakeholders who need the summary without the technical detail.
All reports can be exported as PDF, Excel, or CSV, making them immediately shareable and compatible with existing documentation workflows.
Architecture and Privacy
DL NetTools is built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, following MVVM architecture. Networking uses OkHttp, Retrofit, and Ktor for HTTP operations, with SNMP4j for enterprise monitoring and Apache POI for Excel export. The app targets SDK 36 with minimum SDK 26.
The local-first architecture means all scanning, analysis, and reporting happens on your device. No network data, IP addresses, or device inventories are transmitted anywhere. An optional Supabase integration enables team collaboration features — syncing scan results across devices for multi-technician environments — but this is entirely opt-in and not required for any core functionality.
Credential storage uses EncryptedSharedPreferences. Permission requests are contextual — the app only asks for permissions when you use a specific tool that requires them, and explains why each permission is needed. No account creation is required for any diagnostic tool.
What to Expect at Launch
DL NetTools is currently in active development, with all 62 tools being built and tested against real-world network environments. The app will launch as a free download on Google Play with all tools available from day one — consistent with the Dynasty-X commitment to providing professional tools without paywalls.
When the app launches, we expect it to be particularly valuable for three groups: MSP field technicians who need comprehensive network diagnostics without carrying a laptop, IT security professionals who want a mobile audit tool for quick assessments, and network administrators who need on-the-go visibility into their infrastructure.
